still on a winning streak

By winning the "Hardware Summer" category of the ispo BrandNew Awards in 2009 and all the coverage in the press, the Bergmönch was able to win KOGA Miyata, which is a well-known dutch bike manufacturer, as a production - and distribution partner. The already " awarded" concept was developed, revised and perfected even further. The fully spring-loaded undercarriage of the new generation convinces by giving you an exhilarating driving experience. Due to the even higher user friendly concept of folding up the Bergmönch it takes only 1,5 minutes to transform the backpack into a downhill machine. In cooperation with VAUDE and their long-lived experience in Alpine Sports the backpack concept was optimized when it comes to functionality, wearing comfort and design. The result is that backpack and wheeler are combined that implements the idea of "hiking uphill - wheeling downhill" in a conclusive way. The product already convinced retail specialists allover the area of the Alps, in the next months the first Bergmönche will be delivered.
In 2010 it will get bigger. This spring the first Bergmönche will be whizzing through the mountains - but not only in the Alps - from 20th of February to the 20th of March Italian freak Mauro will lead an expedition through Nepal with the Bergmönch, circling the Annapurna mountains. Sandals on the move

VALE´s healthy and stylish sandals, Accessories finalist at the BrandNew Awards 2009, go down well. In the beginning of november the sandal won the title „product-of-the-year“ for the most innovativ, creative and functional plastic product.
This is a great success for the young company whose shoes are directly fitted to the feet of the customer. When the decision is made, which model is wanted, the footprint is recreated with the help of the VALE-Footprintbox and sent back to the company. An orthopedist fabricates the fitting shoe.
The individual manufactured shoe that combines trend and physical health increases the well-being of the person who is wearing them.

PG-Bikes

BrandNew finalist in Russia


PG Electro Bikes, finalist of the BrandNew category Hardware Summer 2009, gets the honor of exhibiting at the Millionaire Fair in Moscow.

The young and trendy bike manufacturer from Regensburg in Germany will soon be a fixed term for extravagant and special bike design amongst the richest of the rich.

PG-Bikes will, as a first and as one of the few German companies, present themselves at the worlds most exclusive trade fair. The new PG Black Bock Bikes - rather stylish and exlusive electro bikes - will be showed in Moscow from 23. to the 25. of October - in between luxury cars and diamond necklaces.

A huge, but well thought-out step for the young and innovative bike company, because not only well-heeled customers await in Moscow, but also potential investors and licensees form around the globe. PG has expanded its distribution a short while ago, the bikes can now be bought in Russia and who knows, maybe Putin and Co will be cruising around on the Red Square soon.

Surfboards conquer the world

Corran of Imagine Surfboards about the time after winning the BrandNew Advansa Overall Award 2009:

„Its been an amazing year for us with growth of over 60%. In a market that is currently stagnant, and a global economy that is in recession, this is amazing. I have to say that winning the ispo BrandNew Award played a huge part in this. We had a great product, but what we didn't have was the notoriety or contacts to break into the global market. Ispo did this for us on both accounts. 

The award on its own is a tremendous honor. With so many great companies, all with exciting and innovative products, we thought it would be a tough battle and an impossible win, so when we did we were especially excited.
This award carries great weight all over Europe. But also in the USA and other places where ispo is less known, it was easy for people interested in working with us to recognize the significance of ispo, and what the BrandNew Award means.
The general thought of "if you won that, your product must be good!" prevails, and it opened many doors for us. In the months directly following ispo we won distributors in the UK, Germany and France, and were able to open shops and get dealers all over North America by saying to them "we won ispo's coveted BrandNew Award". Without this, we would be just another surf company trying to make surfboards in a flooded, stagnant and uneventful market. 

Then, beyond actually winning the award, and the bragging rights, our actual presence at ispo was very fruitful. The Brand New area gets a lot of attention, and at the show we were able to secure a distributor for Japan and Scandinavia, as well as making contact with many retail shops all across Europe, many of whom now buy from our distributors there. 

Entering the BrandNew contest was the best thing we did out of all our decisions in 2008, and the fruits of winning this award contributed hugely to our unprecedented growth in 2009. The money we made from sales has allowed us to expand, develop new and exciting products, and we are more secure and solid as a company today than we have been since we started.

Ispo is a very important trade fair worldwide for the sports industry. The Brand New Village is prestigious and gets large amounts of traffic, and this is the stepping stone that small companies need to really get going.

Günter from Magnet Jeans is already looking forward to the next ispo!

That is the result from taking part at the ispo BrandNew Awards, and achieving a place among the finalists in the category Style.

He says: “The ispo BrandNew Awards were such a great opportunity for us! Our clothing label that is inspired by skateboarders, snowboarders and BMX riders has got bold prints, is bright and colourful.

Over 200 contacts were made at the ispo, among them were retailers, reporters, distributors and many other people who were interested in our brand.
It was especially interesting to be represented at trade fair in the South of Germany, as this was new territory for us.

Particularly the feedback from the Alpine countries was outstanding. We made the most contacts with companies from Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy, but also from other countries. We even had an order from a skateshop in Wellington/New Zealand!

Conclusion: After the ispo, our shelves are almost empty now!“

Freeriding with style

Every single garment of 2009 Sportswear finalist label PYUA is made from recycled material and additionally to that - the whole collection is recycable as well!
Useful and stylish at the same time - PYUA´s approach is creative and thoughtful. And exactly this approach is the reason for being a finalist at the BrandNew Awards in 2009.

Alex from the PYUA-team is absolutely stunned about the outcome of taking part at the ispo BrandNew Awards. It was a great success for the young company, they gained many first-class contacts and the media outcome was huge.

„Meanwhile, the electro Mini Cooper is one of our business partners which has lead to organising a series of events in Germany and Austria. The idea behind these events is to inform the visitors about status quo of the environmental technology in the sportswear and automobile industries.

„Taking part at the ispo BrandNew Awards was a huge opportunity for our company to emphasize our goal as a business to develop qualitativ high and innovative products and to present our novelty.

We develop products for the area of fall protection for over 60 years now and was now extended for the rock climbing market. SKYLOTEC is now successful in this area as well and a collection for alpine climbing was added to
the product segment.

The BrandNew Award has supported the launch of our new and innovative climbing harness perfectly. Taking part at BrandNew and winning the Hardware Accessories Award pushed our dynamic and motivated team and we were able to show that our product is special.

The production is taking place in Portugal, we will start the distribution in Germany and most likely in Austria as well.

I would have never been able to do this on my own in such a short period of time. Therefore was the participation at the BrandNew Awards of vital importance."

Unique Approach leads to success

The winner of the Thermolite Style Award at the ispo BrandNew Awards 2009 produces Snowboards for women that illustrate high-resolution photographs on the boards which are available in all lengths. With this unique approach the company made a huge impression on the BrandNew judges.
Six months later, BitchBoards reflects on the progress after the BrandNew Awards.

„Winning the ispo BrandNew Thermolite Style Award launched BitchBoards into the international community.
Prior to and during the show we received immense media coverage including features in Shape Germany and various industry publications. While at ispo, we received much attention and made many solid contacts to increase our sales territories and improve our production capabilities. The biggest success was meeting and closing deals with two major distributors in Scandinavia as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Powderequipment

fresh tracks off-piste

They do exactly what it says on the tin - Powderequipment produces lightweight skis and snowboards for going off piste. The use of unique materials helped Powderequipment to become a finalist in the category Hardware Winter in 2009.

Reflecting on the months following the BrandNew Awards, Rainer from Powderequipment says that the platform of the competition has done its best for their new brand in order to gain more attention. At ispo there was a huge interest in their products, and in addition to contacts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, France and Italy were among the highly interested countries. These contacts have all lead to sales, which was perfect.
The strategy to grow slowly together with selected and specialised retailers, was approved by the experiences during and after ispo.

Right now, they have started the production for the 2009/2010 season - and their core products were improved.
In the summer months of this year, many tests were done and the process was developed. In the winter, Powderequipment will present an ultra-light ski for tours and a specialised broad powderski.

According to Rainer, the BrandNew Award was the perfect platform to popularise Powderequipment and to gain valuable retailer contacts. The demand has definitely increased.

They are now concentrating on further development of distribution and products and are continuously looking for even more ecological and functional materials and manufacturing techniques as well as retailers, with whom Powderequipment can develop even further.



Bright prospects

„First of all, I want to compliment the BrandNew team for the spot-on organisation of the BrandNew Awards before and the during the trade fair.
We as exhibitors felt perfectly informed and were in good hands. Before we came to ispo our brand was mainly known in the model sport-toy industry and through the trade fair the degree of FlyCamOne´s brand awareness was raised significantly in the recreational area of sport.
Participating at the BrandNew Award 2009 was a great steppingstone for us to make useful contacts in the sporting goods industry. In general, the ispo is an attractive point to make your products more established in the sports industry and to present it to a broad group of people.

During ispo, many interest groups from all over the world were reached, for example Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, France, USA, Israel and the Benelux. A number of the trade fair visitors wanted to make a distribution deal straight away and ordered test samples.

Taking part at the ispo BrandNew Awards was definitely worthwhile for us and we recommend it to everyone to take part. Actually, every company can apply with its product without spending a lot of money. Just the booth equipment and the staff has to be provided - which is such a relief, especially when other trade fairs are planned.

Our new FlyCamOne - the FCO3 - is available in stores now and we are in the starting blocks for other new projects in the up-coming year!“

Climbstation

approaches the peak

With their product - the mobile, reliable, smoothrunning, easy-to-setup and motor-driven indoor climbing wall - won the finnish company Climbstation the jury over and was awarded as a Hardware Accessories finalist at the BrandNew Awards 2009. It can be difficult to impress with a climbing simulator, but the scandinavian innovators made it happen with their unique product.

„After the ispo, we made many new contacts and had a rise in sales. Two major deals were closed and one of the products was sold to Norway, were the Climbstation can now be tested at a gym. This fitness club is our first customer outside of Finland and they are very satisfied with the feedback they get and the impact it made to their studio.

I believe that when the situation in the world economy improves and companies start to invest more, we get more references which will lead to winning over new customers and closing deals.
The exhibition in the BrandNew Village at ispo generated a lot of publicity for us and was a great market place! More deals will definitely follow.

I´m looking forward to 2010, as it will be a good year for growth!“

EVOC´s bike accessories go down well

Jan from the EVOC-team about the business development since the BrandNew Awards:

„Here at EVOC we can look back on a very successful year, primarily due to the BrandNew Award.

It all started with a small project with just a few products and a leaflet, and now it is a small company that also accelerates internationally. The product range contains 50 products by now.

Meanwhile we can look back on publications in well-known trade magazines, journals and daily newspapers. In the largest european MTB magazine „BIKE“ we got the test with our protector backpack „FREERIDE TRAIL“ with the rating „Super“ and as one of three products we were nominated for the famous „Milestone Award“.
The demand of consumers, retailers and distributors is very good and rises continuosly.We now got a network of more than 50 retailers, and that is only in Germany. Likewise we were able to win distributors in Switzerland, Canada and the Benelux. Other countries are under progress and we expect a highly positive development as well.

Specifically through the presence in the BrandNew Village during the ispo winter, the BrandNew Award was a worthwhile platform for us. Especially at the beginning of the project it was great to get the inestimably important attention from the trade visitors and the media in qualitative high surroundings.
Altogether we would like to express our gratitude to the whole BrandNew Team for the quality of the event, as well as the professional implementation and the high-class communication in the various channels.“

These enquiries of the press has lead to requests from potential `2eleven´ consumers. We could be represented in many luxury hotels all over the world, we could have a special showroom at Harrods and deliver a licensed kicker for Real Madrid just to name a few of the requests. This is great!
